Project description
Overview and its purpose
PHASE 1: Conceptualization and Creative Design
Únic Works took full creative leadership of the project from the outset, aligning CUPRA’s brand identity with a distinctive visual and conceptual narrative. The design process was driven by a co-creation methodology where every line, material, and geometry served both aesthetic intent and functional purpose.
Contextual Research
A thorough analysis of CUPRA’s brand values, the context of Milan Design Week, and audience expectations laid the foundation.
Concept Development
A unique formal language was developed, blending dynamism, precision, and sophisticated brutalism—a true reflection of CUPRA’s DNA.
Parametric Design
Advanced tools like Grasshopper and Rhino were employed to model non-conventional geometries, allowing for complete control of formal variables from the outset.
PHASE 2: Advanced Engineering and Technical Development
The project’s formal complexity demanded a rigorous engineering phase to ensure structural feasibility and aesthetic fidelity.
Structural and Material Analysis
High-performance composites, CNC-machined aluminum, and thermoformed resin surfaces were selected for their strength, lightness, and premium finish.
Digital Prototyping
Every component was tested through FEM simulations and virtual assemblies, optimizing load-bearing points and concealed fixing systems.
Invisible Systems Integration
Technical solutions—such as embedded wiring, integrated lighting, and mounting systems—were designed to remain hidden, preserving the purity of the overall form.
PHASE 3: Bespoke Industrial and Handcrafted Fabrication
The physical execution was carried out entirely by Únic Works in-house, blending industrial precision with artisanal craftsmanship.
Limited Series Production
CNC milling, large-format 3D printing, and precision molding techniques enabled high-accuracy manufacturing of each component.
Manual Finishing
Each element was manually refined—sanded, pigmented, anodized, and assembled—to meet the highest quality standards.
Quality Control
The final phase involved strict validation protocols to ensure tolerance accuracy, mechanical resistance, and fidelity to the original design intent.
